Geraldine village provides a central base for exploring South Canterbury, located en route to Queenstown, 1.5 hours from Christchurch, 1 hour to Tekapo, 2 hours to Aoraki/Mt Cook and about 30min to Timaru and Peel Forest. Central lakes and ski fields are, one-hour drive away.
Geraldine is home to many well-known artists. If you enjoy art galleries, then you MUST visit Caley Art, in the main street of Geraldine. The Geraldine Promotions website has plenty of ideas, and the Vintage Machinery museum is well worth a look.
